Corky, Mike, & Jose Barahona are bringing the fun back to surfing with creative new designs
Corky and Mike began competing against each other over 50 years ago. Today, both are in their 70's, and still rip daily. Corky's models are sold under Blue Mango Surfboards. Corky convinced Mike to jump in and bring back his iconic Hot Lips Designs by Mike Purpus brand. Together, they have also co-designed several of our Legends of Surfing models. and each is autographed by the both of them.
So it's only natural that their 100% handcrafted boards would be shaped in what's likely the oldest, continuous running surfboard factory in the world. Back in 1961, it was called the Rick Factory (Rick Stoner), then the Becker Factory in the late 70's (Phil Becker), today... the Mangiagli Cypress Glassing Factory. Steve and Jon Mangiagli, Jose, Oscar, and Jimmy Barahona, along with their support team have all been working over 40 years in that same building. These guys have ghost shaped for the biggest labels in the business. Hap Jacobs recently turned over his legacy to Jose Barahona after retiring last year. That speaks volumes in itself..
If you are in the Hermosa Beach area, checking out this historical building should be on your agenda. Better yet, make an appointment to have a board personally built right before your very eyes by the best in the business.
So let's review... We have two of the very best surfers from the 1960's and 1970's who still rip today. They are both sharing their magic shapes. Team Barahona is shaping and glassing them in the same legendary factory that Rick Surfboards, Becker Surfboards, DANC Surfboards, Barahona Surfboards, and a host of others I cannot name. With this kind of provenance, it's only natural that the iconic Dive'N'Surf Body Glove Surf Shop in Redondo Beach would become our exclusive Los Angeles area authorized dealer. Don't get suckered into buying a Chinese made machine pop-out. Our boards may cost a little more but they are high performance, better quality, and offer an incredibly high resale value. On top of that, your purchase supports over a dozen local employees, not to mention Corky Carroll and Mike Purpus themselves!

For serious collectors, Corky's signed limited edition paintings are also available on these boards and sure to add even more to the future value. Blue Mango Surf Collectible Art boards are as unique as it gets. The bottom of these custom handcrafted boards becomes Corky's canvas thanks to a new digital process. Amazingly, we can transfer his art, or yours, directly to the fiberglass cloth without any resolution loss as large as needed.
