All of Corky Carroll and Mike Purpus Surfboards are 100% Hand shaped utilizing the absolute finest US blanks, fiberglass, pigments, and resins. Except for Corky's heavier single fin log models, all high performance models are exclusively laminated with S-glass. This type of fiberglass is more expensive than stock fiberglass but substantially lighter, brighter white in color, and substantially stronger because of its much tighter weave. Corky and Mike are both living surf legends and know board design better than anyone, except possibly Jose Barahona, their favorite master shaper. It's not enough to be able to shape the perfect board. There is the lamination process, painting, gloss or sand finishing, and often polishing, before it is cured and can be ridden. Oscar Barahona, Jose's older brother, has been glassing and finishing surfboards since 1985. Amazingly, both he and Jose have worked side-by-side in the same legendary surfboard factory that Rick (Rick Stoner) founded in the early 60's, then Phil Becker later made famous in the early 1980's. Every single facet of building Corky and Mike's surfboards from A to Z is all done in house and overseen by Team Barahona. This is why we can guarantee 100% that these are the finest precision crafted surfboards money can buy.
